我們親愛的寶寶

在光輝燦爛的十月, 兩位可愛的寶寶來到我們當中. 小女生晚了兩週, 小男生提早兩週, 這二人只差個三天呢!

女生先男生後是個[女子]喔! 謝謝這美好的祝福! 佩琪和維玲辛苦了! 還有九月底已在家生產的瓊雯, 祝福你們!

Children

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, “Speak to us of Children.”

And he said:

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;

For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

孩子

一個懷抱著嬰兒的婦人說，跟我們說說「孩子」吧。

他說：

你的孩子不是你的。

他們是「生命」的子女，是生命對自己的渴望。

他們經你所生，卻不是從你所出，

雖然他們和你在一起，卻不屬於你。

你可以給他們你的愛，但不能給他們你的思想，

因為他們有自己的思想。

你的房裡可以住著他們的身體，卻住不了他們的靈魂，

因為他們的靈魂住在明日之屋，你無法拜訪，即使是在夢中。

你可以努力去像他們，但不要想使他們像你。

因為生命不會倒退，也不會駐足昨日。

你是弓，子女是從你身上射出去的活生生的箭。

弓箭手看到在無窮路徑上的記號，用祂的氣力彎曲你這支弓，希望祂的箭能射得又快又遠。

愉悅地屈服在神的手中吧；

因為正如祂愛那飛馳的箭，同樣祂也愛那穩定的弓。
